New Zealand Moonlight Track & Queenstown - February 2020
About the adventure
On this wild adventure you'll explore the breathtaking natural beauty of New Zealand's South Island. You'll experience the rugged ranges behind Queenstown, hiking beneath towering mountains, over golden tussock ridges, and through native beech forests.
This hike will take you across a variety of spectacular landscapes, from the ridge lines high above the Shotover River, to the sub-alpine summit of Mount Gilbert (which you'll reach via an exhilerating heli-hike!). On the trek, you'll stay in the well-appointed and very cosy Moonlight Lodge, where the comfortable lounge room has sweeping views of nearby peaks. You'll relax and enjoy three course meals and Kiwi-hospitality thanks to the Foster Family who own the station.
One of the ultimate highlights of this adventure will be spending a night wilderness camping on a secluded spot in the Shotover Canyon, then utilising a jetboat for a scenic upriver transfer to access remote and secluded trails.
You will explore abandoned gold mining relics, water races, razorback ridges, and river valleys right until the finish, with an optional summit of Ben Lomond (1748m).
