About the adventure

On this fully supported trek you walk with just a day pack to explore the best sections of this iconic desert trail: from the high ridge lines of the West MacDonnell Ranges you’ll see the vast flood plains that form this ancient land. You’ll be dwarfed by the immensity of Ormiston and Serpentine Gorge and soothed by their idyllic waterholes. You’ll be amazed by dramatic colour changes in the rock formations at Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm... and to top it all of you’ll climb to the lofty peak of Mt Sonder to watch the sunrise (1,380m). At the end of each day we relax in comfort at our architect‑designed camps – including hot showers, comfortable lounges and heated dining shelter – as our guides prepare gourmet 3‑course dinners around the campfire. Our exclusive camps combined with passionate guides, spectacular food, and an unsurpassed itinerary make this tour the ultimate Larapinta experience.

about the adventure:

This loop trek follows a forest fire trail and bush track to the secluded Burning Palms Beach. A 30 minute rock scramble takes us to the remarkable natural Figure 8 pool where we can enjoy a refreshing swim followed by morning tea before the steep ascent through Burning Palms to Otford. Spectacular cliff-top scenery, stunning beaches, diverse vegetation and a secret swimming hole all in “Australia’s Oldest National Park”.

pack req: Day pack, approx. 6-8kg including 3-4 litres of water. You will be carrying all your personal equipment for the day – a 35 – 45L day pack is suitable for this adventure.
fitness req: Moderate. You must be of moderate fitness and capable of carrying a 5-7kg pack for up to 5 hours on steep terrain and be comfortable with basic rock scrambling and steep tracks
