FAQ

"I was feeling tired and quite unmotivated during the day and almost gave it all away – I’m SO glad I didn’t. I met some wonderful women, saw Sydney like never before and found the whole experience fantastic. See you next week." ~ Anna

What is Trek Training?

Trek Training is a specialized outdoor adventure fitness training program to prepare the body for Life-Changing Adventures. It is an exciting way to get fit in nature, offering a complete mind, body, spirit experience. Every workout is an adventure.

What session is best for me?

We offer three different Trek Training workouts in Sydney: 1 (Sunburst and Moonburst), 2 hr (Trek Fit) and 3 hr (Trek Training) in different locations. The 1 and 2 hour sessions are interval training based, and the three hour workouts also include endurance training. To find a session near you go to the timetable.

How do I get started?

We offer all first timers the opportunity to experience 2 weeks of Unlimited Trek Training for $49.  You can try as many of our of sessions as you'd like to see which suit you best.  We want you to have a complete understanding of what is involved before you commit to our 10 packs or Unlimited memberships.  We know you will LOVE IT!

Where do you train?

We train in different locations each week from Hornsby to Sutherland, from the Inner West to the Eastern Suburbs (coming soon!) We currently have more than 18 groups training throughout Sydney. You can see where we train here.

How do I purchase Trek Training?

How do I sign into sessions?

You've purchased Trek Training and you want to sign into your preferred sessions. Download the PDF how-to guide here.

Do I need to do additional training?

Yes! Depending on how often you train we us, we suggest you also incorporate some cross training, resistance or yoga/pilates in to your week. If you've got a Wild Adventure booked, you need to follow our Trip Training Requirements.

How do the training programs work?

You purchase your desired Trek Training package (pay weekly for unlimited access or buy a 10 pack) and then book in to sessions according to location and availability. We offer 1hr, 2hr and 3hr Trek Training sessions at a number of locations. We recommend you train at least twice a week with Wild Women On Top to get the most benefit from our training.

How fit do I have to be?

First, if you're considering Trek Training, you're probably fitter than you give yourself credit for.  You don't need to be Wonder Woman but your transition to being fit for adventure will be more comfortable if you can walk at a brisk pace (4km/hour) for 90 min.  When you start, you walk at a comfortable pace, with a small daypack. As you get more experienced, we encourage you to add weight to your pack slowly. You build up the weight in your pack to add resistance to your workout. And should you choose to take on a full-pack trip as one of your goals, you’ll be carrying up to 18-20 kilos, or a third of your body weight.

What are some of the training goals the girls have?

To climb Mt Kilimanjaro, trek to Everest Base Camp, walk 50 or 100kms in Sydney Coastrek, trek the Jatbula Trail with a full pack over 7 days, climb Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, walk the GR20 across Corsica, trek to Machu Picchu, climb Mt Kinabalu in Borneo with their chidren/teens and much much more!

What are the benefits of membership?

Once you purchase a 10 pack or an Unlimited Contract, you join a Community of women who love to take on challenging goals and have the support of our Coaches through your training and preparation. You also have access to Member discounts with our Product Partners for all your gear needs and have acess to join one of our teams on our specialised trips and treks.

What do I bring to training?

Please wear deliciously comfortable boots or runners, shorts, t shirt, a day pack (with water and a small healthy snack) and pack a rain coat and towel or yoga mat. Night sessions in the bush require a head torch and if you have any foot issues, supportive boots. We recommend trekking poles for those doing endurance treks and carrying heavy packs.

What happens if I can’t make a training session?

You need to cancel your booking using the online system at least 24 hrs prior to the class or you will be charged for that class.

What if I just want to do the trips but not the training?

We encourage you to join our Trek Training program to get the best preparation and support as you train for your trip goal, but we have many Lifetime Adventure Members who don't live near Sydney and can't access our programs but are prepared to train remotely and report in to our Coaches to ensure they are fit and prepared for the trek. If you join a Wild Women On Top trip, simply purchase our Lifetime Adventure Membership and you will receive our e-book "How To Prepare For World Class Treks" and work with the Trip Coach to prepare your body for your Wild Adventure.

What if it’s raining, or cold?

Wild Women train in all weather except electric storms, but your Coach will still meet you in the specified location and will adjust the session plan accordingly to take account for wet weather. It's the perfect opportunity to test your gear and build mental toughness!

Why are training goals so important?

A key feature of our training programs is goal setting. We encourage you to commit to a written training goal very early in the program so you can “push” yourself that little bit harder. A clear goal with a definite time frame will give you a motivation, energy and focus so that you can turn up and train even when you’re tired or grumpy. You will get results and be highly motivated..
