GLAMPING NEPAL FOR CHARITY
“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” Dalai Lama
“Glamping”, or glamorous camping, is taking adventure travel to a whole new level. Our PR guru, Kylie Johnson, recently used the term so I thought I should find out more about it. A quick Google search showed just how HOT it is.

The term ‘glamping’ first rated a mention in the media just a year ago, and it’s exploded the USA and the UK in the past couple of months.
The main features of Glamping are that your tents are luxurious, your gear is carried for you, your food is gourmet and served in a gazebo and you get to go to stunningly spectacular locations.

Glamping emerged in Africa and the coastal areas of Thailand in the early 1990s with tourists' growing interest in safari camps. But the roots of luxurious camping go back a lot further; comfortably outfitted mobile palaces date back to the sultans of the Ottoman Empire. Check out: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-glamping.htm
So, to keep our trend setting members at the cutting edge of a healthy adventurous lifestyle, we have developed a Glamping trek for you. Our Nepal trek in April 2012, with heated tents, chef prepared cuisine, a feast overlooking the world’s highest mountain, customized dining tents and full sherpa services, is truly five star. We will help prepare you every step of the way to ensure that you’re fit for the challenge, and you will experience a once in a lifetime adventure with the girls.
If you want a more Hard Core option to give you a training goal that pushes your fitness to another level, we will take you on a historic side trip to the iconic Everest Base Camp. And, we will also give you the opportunity to indulge your philanthropic desires, by supporting the education of underprivileged children in Nepal, through the Australian Himalayan Foundation.
The AHF is passionate about providing education to the children of the Himalaya in some of the poorest, most remote regions on earth. In addition to taking on the personal challenge of trekking to Base Camp and glamping in the high altitude mountains of Nepal, our team will invite their friends to sponsor them for this amazing cause. I had the great privilege of attending AHF annual dinner with our coaches and staff on Friday night and it was truly inspiring. The guest speaker was Sir Chris Bonnington, the legendary British mountaineer and Everest Summiteer.
He truly convinced me that trekking and mountaineering in this area has done really made a difference to the wealth and education of these delightful, friendly, enthusiastic people. His recollections of sherpa stories from 40 years ago still brought tears to his eyes.

As many of you know, the Wild Women On Top philosophy is to keep ourselves fit and healthy through trekking, while also changing lives. The Sydney Coastrek, which motivates us to walk with our goal buddies on stunning coastal tracks, raises funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation, to restore sight in third world countries. This event has become a major focus of our energy.
Entries opened 2 weeks ago and we expect it to be booked out by Wednesday, so don’t miss out! Our Day 50 k event from Palm Beach to Balmoral is completely full with a waiting list, but there are a few places left for the 100 k and Night 50 k events.
These events are win, win, wins. We win because we improve our health and fitness; the charity wins because they raise much needed funds for changing lives; and our families win because we’re happy. As the Dalai Lama says “Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
