The Everest Team has reached the summit of the highest mountain on 4 continents, including Mt Kosciusko 2,228m, Mt Kilimanjaro 5,978m, Mt Elbrus 5,600m and Mt Aconcagua, 6,982m. Their next challenge is Mt Denali, in Alaska, followed by Mt Everest and Mt Vinson.
The Wild Women on Top Everest Team are committed to using their media profile to support The Fred Hollows Foundation and inspire women to achieve extraordinary goals.
In the past 3 years, Wild Women On Top has raised over $50,000 for The Fred Hollows Foundation, which means they've helped restore sight to over 2000 people.
Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993) was an eye doctor, a skilled surgeon of international renown and a social justice campaigner who championed the right of all people to high quality and affordable eye care and to good health.
The Fred Hollows Foundation was established in 1992 just five months before Professor Fred Hollows passed away.
The Foundation works to eradicate avoidable blindness in developing world countries where we work and to improve the health outcomes and life expectancy of Indigenous Australians. Since its inception, The Foundation has helped to restore sight to well over 1million people, has reduced the cost of modern cataract surgery to just $25 and produced over 3 million intra-ocular lenses.
