Celebrate!
By Lisa Marshall
Yesterday I walked with an amazing group of Wild Women in hail, rain, sunshine and gale force winds! We experienced heat, cold, wet, mud, steep climbs, spectacular views and were even treated to a rainbow! Wow. It felt good to be alive and to be out there experiencing all the elements and watching how each woman found inner resolve to keep going despite the challenges that we faced. I lay awake last night, unable to sleep, with wind burn on my face, my muddy boots outside my door, contemplating just how fortunate we are to be able to experience these feelings and sensations. I know there are so many people out there who for reasons of ill health or poverty are not as fortunate as us. We need to celebrate being alive and well and having the opportunity to get fitter, stronger and be happier. If you feel like you're always out there searching for something, just take a moment to reflect on everything you have. Inner happiness and contentment is yours to find, but it is also yours to create. Each day is a chance to change something you might not be happy with in your life, or the chance to take on something challenging that will push you out of your comfort zone and help you grow and believe in yourself and all that is possible. It is up to you to make the changes and the first step to realising your goals is to believe that you are in control of your life.
As a mother, friend, wife, daughter, sister, business partner and coach, I am surrounded by amazing people who believe in exercise as a true antidote to ill health and depression, and the key to a long, healthy life and a positive outlook. I look at all the people I have the privilege to be in contact with, and I realise that if you surround yourself with people who inspire and motivate you and who believe in what you do, then you will continue to grow and be inspired to be a fitter, stronger and healthier than ever before.
This week take on the challenge to celebrate being alive! Celebrate every step you walk, every breath you take, every smile you are given, every laugh you hear, every tear you cry, every hug you are given, every rain drop that falls on you, every word you read, every star you see and every blue sky that greets you.
