Yes it’s true, us Wild Women On Top do a whole lot of banging on about goals. There is no denying it, Wild Women On Top, the Coaches, the culture, the buzz is all about the G word. And to some of us it is the G word – a good old fashioned four letter word.
Goals goals goals, blasted goals! Why do we have to make everything about goals – why can’t it be about fun and freedom and just for the sake of it? Why do I have to have a GOAL!

I tried to speed up as I climbed carefully along the steep snowy slope in my crampons in the post dawn light, not daring to look up in case I too was attacked by a high speed shard of ice from the deadly Gun Barrels high on the Linda Glacier of Mt Cook...
Ten years ago a wild woman intent on training herself to trek and climb mountains started a new trend...She put on a backpack, stuffed it with whatever she could find, and set off to explore the coastal and bush tracks around Sydney.
Along the way she learnt many lessons, including how to survive in the wilderness, the importance of hydration and footwear, the right gear for trekking, proper nutrition and how to pack a pack. As her enthusiasm for trekking spread, more and more women joined her to prepare for World Class Treks. Di Westaway went on to create a new fitness regime called Trek Training for women. But she knew it was more than just the physical experience that inspired women to get fit for adventure.
